About Laurie

00:00 / 01:31

My name is Laurie Ryan, and I am the owner/manager of Silver Reins Quarter Horses/Photography, a division of our LLC Ryan River Ranch.

My husband Les and I farm and ranch on the breaks of the Snake River near Pullman WA in a small town known as Colton. We love our life in agriculture and love the opportunities the Lord has offered us to dabble in to make a living. We farm around 3,000 acres growing Winter wheat, Spring grains, as well as legumes on a three- year crop rotation. We also run approximately 130 head of mixed-breed mother cows along the Snake River with my husbands' brothers.

Two of the horses that are used by my husband to work cattle came out of my program and have proved themselves to be worthy hard workers and are youngsters showing great promise. They possess the type of minds and perseverance that we look for in our ranch horses. They are sturdy with good feet, nice to look at, and know their job.

My goal with this business is to breed and promote registered quarter horses that possess the utmost in mind and movement. I have acquired three nicely bred mares to base my program on. Though they may not be World champions, they still offer a good mind, intelligence, good bone, and pedigrees to produce what I hope to be some of the nicest horses to own.

I have been breeding my girls for about the last 6 years and have had great successes in the choices of stallions to cross with my stock. Such names as My Final Notice, Blazing Hot, and super sire Machine Made, to name a few. I look forward to meeting new owners of my youngsters and forming solid bonds and friendships as we go.

Another division of Ryan River Ranch, LLC, is the inclusion of my love for photography and taking pictures of anything and everything I can. My first love of photography is photographing everyday life on the farm. My favorite time of year is always the calving season and the celebration of new life.

Pictures can tell many stories, and I love seeing a person's face light up when I have captured a very special moment in their day!!! Thanks so much for your interest in my horses and my photography.
